Le Vidette?
Founded in Los Angeles by Lejla Subašić, Le Vidette operates as both a production studio and an evolving creative laboratory, an extension of her multidisciplinary practice. The studio crafts cinematic and digital experiences spanning music videos, narrative work, Unreal Engine environments, virtual production, VFX and post, live visuals and VJ sets, and art-driven campaigns.
The goal is simple: to create work that is engaging, original, raw, textured, and memorable.
Lejla Subašić is a Bosnian-American filmmaker, electronic musician, and hybrid creative nonfiction writer exploring digital adolescence, memory, and the politics of visibility. Her work moves fluidly between narrative film, real-time game engines, live visual performance, and experimental sound.
On set, she wears every hat and treats technical chaos like a sport. She played a major role in Gary Screams For You, a short film that premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, was workshopped at Cannes Focus WIP, screened at Fantastic Fest and Slamdance, and became a Vimeo Staff Pick. She served as executive producer, creative consultant, DIT, and AC, and has collaborated with indie artists, commercial teams, and cult figures like David Liebe Hart.
Lejla is also 1/2 of minds behind SHEEPSPEAK, a musical project she created with her partner Brendan, that blends darkwave, post-punk, and experimental electronics, weaving fragile-to-commanding vocals through live and programmed percussion, digital and analog synths, and layered textures. She also DJs and VJs, folding her filmmaking brain straight into her sound.
Her practice also includes writing lyrical essays, concert reviews for Chicago Music Guide covering artists such as The Growlers, The Dandy Warhols, Broods, Cloud Nothings, Preoccupations, and Empress Of, and cultural analysis that interrogates digital life, identity, and visibility. Published across platforms and expanded through her Substack, her writing blends memoir and media critique.
She’s based in LA, often negotiating peace treaties between her software and her hardware.
