Le Vidette?
Le Vidette is a Los Angeles-based production studio and evolving creative laboratory, created by filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist Lejla Subašić. An extension of her creative practice, the studio works across music videos, narrative film, Unreal Engine environments, virtual production, VFX and post-production, live visuals, VJ sets, and art-driven campaigns.
The goal is simple: to create work that is engaging, original, raw, textured, and memorable.
Lejla Subašić is a Bosnian-American filmmaker, electronic musician, and writer whose work explores digital adolescence, memory, identity, and the politics of visibility. Her practice moves fluidly between narrative film, real-time game engines, live visual performance, experimental sound, and hybrid forms of storytelling.
On set, she wears every hat and treats technical chaos like a sport.
Her work on Gary Screams For You spanned executive producing, creative consulting, DIT, and camera assisting.The film premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, was workshopped at Cannes Focus WIP, screened at Fantastic Fest and Slamdance, and became a Vimeo Staff Pick. She has collaborated with indie artists, commercial teams, filmmakers, and performers including David Liebe Hart.
She is also one half of SHEEPSPEAK, a musical project created with her partner Brendan that blends darkwave, post-punk, and experimental electronics. The project brings together vocals, live and programmed percussion, digital and analog synthesizers, layered textures, and the visual language of her filmmaking practice. She also DJs and VJs, folding her filmmaking brain straight into sound and live performance.
Writing has always run alongside the visual work — from music criticism for Chicago Music Guide to lyrical essays and cultural analysis examining technology, digital life, identity, memory, nature, and the strange ways we adapt ourselves to the systems around us. Her writing blends Balkan memoir, cultural criticism, humor, and philosophical inquiry, continuing the same fascination with humans, machines, and the blurry space between them through her Substack.
She’s based in LA, often negotiating peace treaties between her software and her hardware.
